Eight tourism and culture projects underway in Nagaland

DIMAPUR — Eight projects worth INR 29.79 crore are currently underway in the tourism and culture sector in Nagaland. These projects were sanctioned under the schemes of the North Eastern Council (NEC).

As of March 31, 2024, INR 19.29 crore has been utilised for these projects, according to the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region’s data.

According to the data, the project for ‘constructing capacity building and developing infrastructure for offroad tourism’ in the tourism sector was sanctioned on March 31, 2022, with a budget of INR 4.98 crore. The scheduled completion date for this project is March 19, 2026. As of March 31, 2024, the total financial expenditure for this project amounted to INR 3.9934 crore.

A project for setting up the ‘development of Kohima View Point Aradura’ was sanctioned on March 3, 2022, with a budget of INR 4.5 crore. The scheduled completion date for this project is March 3, 2025. As of March 31, 2024, a total of INR 1.8 crore has been utilised for the project.

The project for the establishment of a ‘services block (Enopen Tourist Resort) at Khonoma, Kohima,’ was sanctioned on March 31, 2021, with a budget of INR 1.88 crore. The scheduled completion date for this project was set for March 31, 2025. As of March 31, 2024, the total financial expenditure for the project amounted to INR 1 crore.

The ‘Seri-Tourism Model Farming Centre in Mokokchung, Dimapur, and Phek,’ was sanctioned on February 28, 2023. A total budget of INR 4.8718 crore was approved for the project under NEC. The scheduled completion date for these projects is February 27, 2025. As of March 31, 2024, a total of INR 3.8987 crore has been utilised for these initiatives.

The ‘Tourist Amenity Centre at Dzu River’ project was sanctioned on March 28, 2022, with a total budget of INR 4.84 crore approved for its implementation. The scheduled completion date for this project is March 19, 2026. A total financial expenditure of INR 3.936 crore has been utilised for the project as of March 31, 2024.

Another project sanctioned under NEC is the development of a ‘tourist destination at Tsuza Erya Pangti village, Wokha district,’ on March 30, 2023, with a budget of INR 2.1642 crore and the scheduled completion date for this project is set for March 30, 2026. A total of INR 0.6 crore has been utilised for this endeavour as of March 31, 2024.

Two projects, namely the ‘construction of a guest house at Longleng district headquarters, Nagaland, and the construction of multilevel parking at Rullinou, Kohima,’ have exceeded their scheduled completion dates. The guest house project was originally slated for completion by January 31, 2024, while the multilevel parking project’s scheduled completion date was September 21, 2020, according to the report.

While the construction of the guest house at Longleng was sanctioned on September 27, 2016, at a cost of INR 3.16 crore, the completion timeframe for this project was set for January 31, 2024. As of March 31, 2024, records show that a total of INR 2.8452 crore has been utilised for the project.

The construction of a multilevel parking facility was approved on September 21, 2017, with a budget of INR 3.39 crore. The scheduled completion date for this project was September 21, 2020. As of now, a total of INR 1.22 crore has been utilised for the project.
