Dimapur, April 6 (EMN): The National Cricket Academy (NCA) of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has selected eight cricketers from Nagaland, four each from senior men’s and senior women’s teams for northeastern states’ camp which will begin next week.
Several players from northeastern states were selected for the camp based on their performance in the first class cricket (Ranji Trophy) during the current season 2018-19, informed an update from Nagaland Cricket Association.
The four cricketers from Nagaland men’s senior team, who have been selected for the camp to be held at Imphal from April 10 to May 4, are Jonathan Rongsen, Tahmeed Rahman, Imliwati Lemtur and Sedezhalie Rupreo.
Rongsen scored 809 runs with three centuries in the Ranji Trophy, while Rahman scored 146 runs and 18 first class wickets, including first from Northeast to get hat-trick in first class cricket; Lemtur took 14 wickets besides scoring 176 first class runs; and Rupreo scored 286 first class runs.
NCA has appointed the following coaches for the camp: Former India opener SS Das as batting coach, Sanath Kumar - fast bowling, Kawaljeet Singh - spin, and Anshu Jain – fielding. The support staff includes Pavan Kumar and Karma Kalsang as physios, Nishanta Bordoloi and Jamail Singh as strength and conditioning coach, and Utpal Das as video analyst.
The four cricketers from Nagaland women’s senior team, who have been selected for senior women’s camp for northeastern states to be held at Shillong from April 10 to May 4, are Elina Muru, Sentilemla Imsong, Merensola and Sariba.
