Eight journalists conferred with Manipur State Journalist Award

(Photo credit DIPR)[/caption] Our Correspondent Imphal, Nov. 16 (EMN): On the occasion of National Press Day, eight media persons in eight different categories were conferred with the Manipur State Journalist Award. The recipients of the Manipur State Journalist Awards, 2019 are Joint Editor Nepram Krishnamohon Singh of Sanaleibak vernacular, staff reporters Nomita Khongbantabam(rural reporting) and Asem Babycha Devi (Science and Technology reporting) of Hueiyen Lanpao vernacular, Sub- Editor Taorem Bishwajit Singh of Sanaleibak (parliamentary reporting), reporter Sagolsem Bigyan of The People’s Chronicle (special reference to women and children reporting), staff reporters R K Bullu Singh (arts and culture reporting) and Heigrujam Sadananda Singh ( sports reporting) of Poknapham daily and video journalist Khwairakpam Naoba of Information Service Television News (public health and hygiene reporting). The National Press Day-cum-workshop on the theme “Reporting Interpretation - A journey” was held at newly constructed auditorium at Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) premises in Imphal on Saturday. Information and Public Relations (IPR) Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh and Director H Balkrisna were the chief guest and guest of honour of the programme. Speaking on the occasion, Biswajit Singh said journalists act as information providers and messengers. He also stressed on the importance of a balanced and unbiased reporting. Balkrisna said the DIPR is also committed towards bringing more transparency in its administration and bringing more welfare of the media persons. Senior journalists Sobhaphati Samom, Yumnam Rupachandra and Sothing Shimray representing three journalists bodies in the state, presented papers as resource persons.
