DIMAPUR — Following the July 7 landslide that wreaked havoc at Alahuto colony in Zunheboto town, a technical team from the department of Geology and Mining is taking up measures to mitigate the risk of another landslide.

On Monday, the team surveyed and assessed suitable areas at the colony to drill borewells that could help manage subterranean water levels and address the threat of large-scale sinking and soil erosion.

According to updates, the team is being assisted by the Ward Disaster Management Authority (WDMA) which was constituted on July 14.

The update stated that damaged buildings are being demolished by the State Disaster Response Force with the directives from the Deputy Commissioner and chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Rahul Bhanudas Mali and other officials, as they pose serious threat to the community.
