Education officer emphasises on holistic education
KOHIMA — The district education officer (DEO) of Kohima, Emilo Patton, underscored the significance of education stating that it transcends mere academic knowledge confined within the classroom walls and mould individuals into better human beings, instilling essential life values.
Patton stated this during an annual flower show hosted by Don Bosco Higher Secondary School in Kohima on April 27 on the theme “The wonderful world of colours.”
Patton, who was the special guest of the event, stated that education transcends mere academic knowledge confined within classroom walls and mould individuals into better human beings, instilling essential life values. Highlighting the vital role of schools in the educational landscape, Patton stressed the integration of extracurricular activities to complement academic pursuits.
She further emphasised the profound impact of colours and flowers on students’ lives, advising them on related matters.
The programme was led by Thejasenuo Emelia, while the Bible reading was led by Vikesonuo Ursula and an invocation prayer was said by Rev. Fr. TP James, SDB, the school’s principal.
A special performance was presented by Zevizonuo Rutsa and Samuel R Humtsoe, followed with a poetry recitation by Eto Shijoh. Shaji Paul, the school supervisor, delivered the vote of thanks.
The flower show was officially declared open by the special guest.
