Education department clarifies on SSA teachers’ payment

Dimapur, June 6 (EMN): The department of School Education has clarified on the demands made the Nagaland Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) Teachers Association.
According to DIPR report received here on Wednesday, the Education department has informed that the SSA teachers had been recruited on the basis of a CSS scheme called the ‘Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan’ launched by the Government of India. Some batches of SSA teachers were appointed after the post were created, advertised and interviews were conducted.
The school department said since salaries are borne under the CSS scheme of SSA, the release of the salaries depend on the release from the Central govt. towards the scheme.
It also clarified on the demand of the7th ROP by the SSA Teachers Association belonging to 2010 and 2013 batches.
The department said the government has agreed in principle, to the demand for inclusion of this category of SSA teachers into the 7th ROP, after observing all codal formalities.
“As far as transfer of salaries to non-plan is concerned, this posts were created for implementation of Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) namely SSA. The existing practice of payment of salary through the State Mission Authority SSA shall have to continue, in whatever name or form the CSS of SSA continues. However, the Department of School Education has been asked to suggest for ways, so that salaries can be paid on time,” the press release stated.
It has informed that salaries from January to March have been released (without 7th ROP).
The dept. declared that it was clear in its endeavour to accommodate and address the issues raised by any association and will continue to look after the welfare of all its employees.
It also stated that efforts were made at all level to make the association understand the status of their demands. However, the department lamented that action of the association has been otherwise.
The department has appealed to the agitating teachers to resume their duties, in the larger interest of the students. It also assured that the interest of the students will not be compromised under any circumstances and necessary steps will be taken to ensure for the same.
