Economics & Statistics goes online

THE Department of Economics & Statistics Nagaland has formally launched its official website www.statisticsnagaland.gov.in with state Chief Secretary, Alemtemshi Jamir gracing the function on January 31 at the Chief Secretary’s Conference Hall Kohima.Alemtemshi expressed his happiness to the department on launching its website where he also said that it was an achievement of a milestone in the state. He said that theories of policies and visions are based on statistics and that statistics and data is most important for the present information society.
Appreciating the department officials on its endeavour the chief secretary also said the department has been growing and improving day by day and encouraged them to continue to proceed further. He expressed his happiness for his own contribution towards the enrolment of the department’s website and be a part of the launching of it also.
The Chief Secretary wished the department for the success and prayed that Nagaland and the people would progress and develop further through it. Alemtemshi on the occasion reminded them to keep in touch through the website stating that it was the last day for him to be in office.
The Ex-Officio Director of the department & Additional Secretary of the department, Kevileno chaired the function. She said that the Economics & Statistics department being the nodal agency for collection of data, statistics and information as also in the age of technology the department has long felt necessary to have its website.
She also said that the website is the information source of the State data and statistics etc that where one could download and access data.
The Programme Officer Salvester Chubasenla gave a short presentation about the website and also said that the website is locally designed and has dynamic features where data can be updated instantly.
