Economic blockade on Nagaland lifted after 25 days

Mokokchung, Dec. 09 (EMN):
The ongoing economic blockade on National Highway 702D (Mariani-Mokokchung road) imposed by Assam-based organisations in connection with Assam-Nagaland border issue has been lifted on Wednesday evening, said Mokokchung district administration on Wednesday.

“Through a telephonic communiqué, Jorhat Deputy Commissioner has conveyed our Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung that economic blockade imposed on NH 702D (Mariani-Mokokchung road) has been lifted,” district administration Mokokchung informed Eastern Mirror.

The Longtho Police Station OC, Imcha, informed that the blockade was lifted at 5:30 pm on Wednesday.

It may be mentioned that the relief came economic blockade imposed by Assam based organizations have been lifted as twenty-five days.

Meanwhile, the Tzurangkong Range Naga Youth Front official informed that they will not lift the blockade (from Nagaland side) unless an assurance is conveyed from the concerned authority.

The source said they have verbally conveyed to the Assam Police Force stationed at Aosenden village jurisdiction to vacate the temporary camp from the Nagaland side at the earliest.

They also warned that if this demand is not fulfilled, the Tzurangkong Range public will initiate its own course of action for which the public of  Tzurangkong would not be held accountable for any untoward incident.
