ECI approves 21 new PS for Kohima

DEPUTY Commissioner, Kohima, W Honje Konyak said the Election Commission of India (ECI) has approved creation of 21 new Polling Stations in Kohima district and accordingly the list of the final polling stations have been issued. He said this while addressing the meeting of recognised district political parties, all Assistant Electoral Registration Officer, Administrative Officers including DPRO Kohima, representatives from All India Radio and the media in the DC’s conference hall,on Friday.
The Deputy Commissioner also apprised the hwouse on the detailed schedule of the Special Summary Revision of Electoral Roll 2014. Regarding the appointment of Booth Level Agents, the DC said that the Election Commission has insisted on recognised political parties to appoint one Booth Level Agent (BLA) per Polling Station.
Further stressing on clean Electoral Roll, he urged upon all concerned to be cooperative and participate in the process. He also spoke on the role of the church in maintaining a clean electoral roll and apprised the officers to be careful about entry of illegal immigrants.
Assistant Election Officer, Kohima, Vekho Vero, said that as per directives of the ECI, Nagaland has to achieve 100% PER this October and the whole revision process of PER shall be posted on the internet for public information on the department’s website ceonagaland.nic.in.
Regarding the preparation of Elector Photo Identity Card (EPIC), he said that EPICs will not be issued to illegal immigrants. Further if any local woman married is married to an illegal immigrant, the whole family will be treated as illegal immigrants except the woman.
Hence, he said everyone should help cleanse the errors in the rolls during this revision period.
