The Election Commission of India has ordered summary revision of electoral rolls. The schedule for the exercise was released to the media today by both the Kohima and Dimapur administrations. According to the press release from the district administrators, the date for draft publication is October 1 on Tuesday, 2013. The final publication of electoral rolls is on January 6, Monday 2014, the administrations stated (see complete table).
“As per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India recognized political parties can appoint booth-level agents polling station-wise only for special campaign dates i.e., on 12th and 26 October to assist the booth-level officers towards ensuring fidelity of the photo electoral rolls of the districts.
They are also required to attend training as and when training date is notified,” the administration stated.
Likewise, in the notification from the Kohima administration issued by the ADC & ERO, all political parties have been informed to appoint one booth-level agents per polling station in prescribed ‘Form ID-BLA-2’ to be produced to booth-level officers on campaign dates. The exercise is to enable holding special campaigns on October 12 and 26, 2013. The constituency’s consolidated list in plain paper should be submitted to office of ADC and ERO of Kohima beforehand and get a briefing on the functions of booth-level agent.
The services of booth level officers engaged during the recently concluded pre-revision activities in the month of July-August 2013 would also be performing duties in the forthcoming summary revision of electoral rolls. Necessary briefing/trainings will be imparted in the later part of September 2013, the notification from the Kohima administration said.
