The presidents of the six tribes opined that the ENCSU is only demanding its due share of seats and nothing beyond. The Forum also rightfully pointed out that the department while claiming to have adhered to the MCI rules, is involved with its ‘manipulative’ game. The presidents’ forum of the 6 tribes in a press note said, “The department should also understand that the MCI guideline has mentioned nothing on the reservation but the utmost designed of the department that had even reduced the reservation percentage from 37% to 15%. No fools on earth could ever expect to accommodate 37 chairs manipulatively restricting to 15 candidates at the entry point.
The forum also stated that the department had totally and intentionally failed to adhere to the government notification vide Notification No.RCBT-5/87 (Pt-II) dated 4th September, 2015.
“Such manipulative and instigative attitude of the department will not be tolerated at any cost.” The Forum also outrightly warned the department to totally abstain from making/preparing manipulative rules so as to counter back upon the aggrieved people.
The forum also outrightly declared that the department is claiming to have adhered to two sets of rules (MCI rule and departmental manipulative rules).
The forum noted that the state selection board had been fully authorized and endorsed upon for the selection of the candidates and that they should be held responsible for such ‘manipulative’ deprivation. It expressed surprise that the department had followed both the State rules and the MCI rules where the issue of manipulation was given birth. The forum also questioned on the viability in following two sets of rules on one exercise.
The six students’ body also expressed surprise that the recent declared results. The 6 tribal student’s forum also stated that under the direction of Supreme Court, the Medical Council of India (MCI) has given free hand to conduct its own exam in all the respective states of India and on the contrary the department’s claim to adhere to the MCI rules is false. “The students’ career and future cannot be ruined”.
“The poor students’ hailing from backward tribes of Nagaland should in no way remain a mute spectator on the ongoing issues. We are backward because we are being suppressed and accordingly the state government might be preparing for benefits and privileges of the backward tribes of Nagaland in their Vision Document 2030.”
The forum requested the cabinet to consider the plea of the ENCSU so as to safeguard the interest of the poor backward students of Nagaland. The tribal student leaders include Loungai Wangnao. (President Konyak Students Union), Thrikyuse Sangtam (President United Sangtam Students’ Conference), Hatho Khiam (President Khiamniungan Students; Union), Hongkam Ngongen (President Phom Students’ Conference, Solumba Yim (President Yimchungru Akhiru Arihako) and Kelep Chang (Vice President, Confederation of Chang Students Union).
