ENPUM warns social media users, group administrators and moderators against creating or circulating objectionable content targeting members and leaders of the Eastern Nagaland community.
DIMAPUR — The Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Union Mokokchung (ENPUM) has warned individuals and social media users against creating, posting, sharing or circulating memes, photographs, videos and other manipulated or objectionable content targeting members and leaders of the Eastern Nagaland community.
In a public notice, ENPUM urged individuals, students, educational institutions, social media group members, and WhatsApp and institutional group administrators and moderators to refrain from content intended to insult, harass, defame, humiliate or threaten any person or damage their dignity and reputation.
The union stated that complaints or reports concerning such activities originating from educational institutions in Mokokchung or targeting community leaders and individuals may be documented and referred to the appropriate law-enforcement and cyber crime authorities for necessary action under applicable laws.
It also cautioned social media, WhatsApp and institutional group administrators and moderators to exercise due care, stating that concerned persons may be held accountable, where applicable, for objectionable content circulated through such groups and could face legal proceedings before the competent court.

ENPUM urged the public to exercise responsibility and caution before creating, posting, sharing or forwarding objectionable content, noting that material perceived as a joke or meme could have legal consequences if it harms another person's dignity or reputation.
The union called for responsible use of social media and urged all concerned to uphold respect, dignity, peace and harmony within the community.
