Eastern Command confers gallantry awards to personnel
Dimapur, Feb. 16 (EMN): Lt. General MM Naravane, PVSM, AVSM, SM,VSM, GOC-in-C Eastern Command on Saturday awarded gallantry medals to army personnel at the investiture ceremony conducted at the Albert Ekka Auditorium, Fort William in Kolkata.
The event is conducted once a year to confer various awards for personnel.
This year one Yudh Seva medal, Ten Sena medals (gallantry), one to Sena medals (distinguished) and 12 Vishisht Seva medals were presented to deserving personnel who had rendered exceptional service beyond the call of duty, PRO Defence said.
During the ceremony, 18 units of Eastern Command also awarded the unit appreciation by the general officer commanding-in-chief, Eastern Command to ten Infantry battalions, two Artillery and two Engineer regiments, one Aviation Squadron, one ASC battalion and two Assam Rifles battalions for exemplary professional performance.
After the programme, Naravane interacted with the awardees and their families and acknowledged their contributions towards the professionalism of the Indian Army.
