East Zone Inter-University badminton tournament begins at Lumami

DIMAPUR — The East Zone Inter-University Badminton (women) tournament, under the aegis of Association of Indian Universities, commenced at the Nagaland University, Headquarters: Lumami on November 21 with Sunil Kumar Barnwal, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Education, as chief guest.

Joining the inauguration were eminent personalities including the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Jagadish Kumar Patnaik, Registrar Dr. Abemo, and several other officials, according to an update.

Deputy Director of Sports and Organising Secretary, Harish Kumar Tiwar while addressing the gathering, expressed his delight at the overwhelming participation of over 30 teams representing different universities. “This tournament is a celebration of talent, dedication, and sportsmanship,” he remarked, setting the tone for an event filled with spirited competition and camaraderie among the participants.

The tournament promises riveting matches, showcasing the prowess and skills of these university-level badminton players, the update stated.

The top four teams in this tournament will qualify for the All India Inter-University tournament, and also eligible for Khelo India University Games.
