East Dimapur Sumi youths concerned over dust pollution

Dimapur, Sep. 20 (EMN): The East Dimapur Sumi Youth Organisation (EDSYO) has expressed concern over the poor quality of air under its jurisdiction caused by dust pollution due to the ongoing road construction project along National Highway 2.

The EDSYO, in a press note, stated that the dust pollution is not only hazardous for the commuters but also for the residents living in and around the said stretch of the highway. It, therefore, appealed the concern authority to arrange and make a time schedule for water to be sprinkled along the stretch where the work is taking place so as to reduce the dust pollution in the area.

Nonetheless, the organisation expressed deep satisfaction at the concern authorities or contractors for starting the work along the highway, particularly along the stretch from Purana Bazar to Airport junction, which has been an eyesore for the citizens. It said that the work along the highway was a long awaited and a much needed one; however it said that the dust pollution caused due to the ongoing works needs to be improved in the greater interest of the public.
