E3 2021 news: Dates, virtual event and participants
Dimapur, April 6 (EMN): Entertainment Software Association (ESA) has today officially unveiled dates for the much anticipated E3 2021 event and early commitments from various industry partners.
The video game industry showcase is normally hosted at the Los Angeles Convention Centre but owing to the Covid-19 restrictions across the globe, this year’s event will be an all-virtual event. It may be recalled that E3 2020 was cancelled last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic as member organisations stepped down from the event and hosted their own virtual events.
WELCOME BACK! It’s been hard waiting quietly as we got ready for today, but we are thrilled to officially announce our plans for June 12th-15th!

According to a press release on the ESA website, E3 2021 is set to begin on June 12 and conclude on June 15. Participants that are confirmed to attend the event are Nintendo, Xbox, Capcom, Konami, Ubisoft, Take-Two Interactive, Warner Bros. Games and Koch Media. However, Sony is not on the list of participants.
“For more than two decades, E3 has been the premier venue to showcase the best that the video game industry has to offer while uniting the world through games,” wrote Stanley Pierre-Louis, President and CEO of the ESA. “We are evolving this year’s E3 into a more inclusive event, but will still look to excite the fans with major reveals and insider opportunities that make this event the indispensable centre stage for video games.”
The decision to host E3 2021 as a digital-only event comes at a time when many flagship tech events are going virtual again amid the surge in Covid cases globally.
