E-Shram witnesses highest female registrations, agri sector leads the way

DIMAPUR — The e-Shram portal under the Ministry of Labour and Employment reported 22,29,44,437 registrations in India since August 2021, with 29,841 registrations on January 6.

According to the Ministry, the top five states with the highest registrations include Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra. The primary occupational sectors, based on e-Shram portal registrations, were agriculture, domestic and household workers, construction, apparel, and miscellaneous.

In the age distribution, the 18-40 years category constituted 59.46%, 40-50 years accounted for 23.56%, and those above 50 years made up 16.81%.

Female registrations surpassed male registrations, with females at 52.98% and males at 47.02%.

Nagaland, in particular, saw 2,20,926 registrations since August 2021, with three registrations on January 6. The top five occupational sectors in the state were agriculture, construction, miscellaneous, domestic and household workers, and handicrafts and carpets.

Among the workforce in Nagaland, the 18-40 years age group dominated at 58.35%, the 40-50 years group constituted 24.58%, and above 50 years made up 17.04%. Here too, female registrations led with 129072 registrations constituting 58.42%, while there were 91,845 male registrations at 41.57%.

The data also revealed that most registrations were facilitated through Customer Service Centres, followed by self-registration, while the use of the Umang app for registration remained low.
