Dimapur, Nov. 18 (EMN): With the objective to encourage, motivate and support woman and girl child, the Longleng district task force for Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) and Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK) organised a duet singing competition on November 17 in the office complex of the deputy commissioner, Longleng, on the theme “Equality for women is progress for all.”

In her exhortation to the participants, EAC Longleng headquarters Pichano Kikon shared some benefits for participating in any competition. According to her, competition is more than just participation or winning the prizes but uncovering of the natural hidden talent and a platform to exhibit their artistic abilities to the creative side, a DIPR report stated on Wednesday.

“So competition whether big or small leads to various life changing effects and motivate us to develop creative abilities,” she said. She also urged the participants to continue to motivate and inspire people with their talent through such platform provided for the youths.

Altogether, 10 teams from different churches, schools and wards participated in the competition. After a tough contest, team from Hills School of Music and Culture namely Kenmei Mukholee and Litong Mukho were declared the winners. Henmei N Phom and Emongyunglak from Longleng Town Baptist Church and Sentila S Pongen and Pangertula B Lemter from Ao Baptist Church were declared the first runners-up and second runners-up respectively.

The judges were Tanhau, youth pastor of Longleng Town Baptist Church; Rubie, EAC Longleng; and Bachem Buchem, associate pastor of Christina Education.

The deputy commissioner of Longleng, M Shayung Phom, gave away the prizes to the winners. Consultation prizes were also given to all the participants.

The programme was chaired by Doichong Phom, ambassador of BBBP Longleng, while the invocation prayer was pronounced by Yingliomei Phom, superintendent of Phom Lempong Hostel.
