
Dimapur, March 17 (EMN): District urban development agency (DUDA), Wokha, in collaboration with resource organisation organised a one-day workshop and skill training for the SHGs on March 16 at WDVCCA and VDBSA multipurpose building, Wokha.
DUDA member secretary under national urban livelihood mission (NULM), Kiniholi Kinimi, said NULM is a flagship programme of the ministry of housing and urban poverty alleviation (M/o HUPA).
Enlightening the participants on NULM, she stated that the mission is focused on reducing poverty and vulnerability of the urban poor households, enable them to access gainful employment and skill wage employment opportunities, address livelihood concern of urban street vendors.
Manager of Nagaland Rural Bank, Wokha, Neibounuo Suokhrie, dwelling on SHGs and Bank linkages, said every SHG should have a bank account so that the group could avail loans, schemes and other beneficial programmes of the government. She also encouraged them to build up good relations with the banks by way of repaying loan on regular basis and maintaining saving habits.
She also urged the SHGs to increase their activities to generate more income and be self-reliant.
In the second session, participants were trained on basket making, beads making ornaments, and shopping bags. The training was conducted on the theme “Say no to plastic- swachh Wokha.”
