DIMAPUR Urban Colonies Council Chairmen Federation (DUCCCF) in its general meeting held on January 18 reiterated its stand to fully support and stand by the 31st October Public Rally Resolution of ‘One Government One Tax’. The Federation like all right thinking Naga NGOs respects the Naga National Movement and will always support the cause of the Naga Nation, DUCCCF president L. Supong Ao and I&P secretary Simon Kelio said in a release today. But as the Naga public has realized that so long as the Naga Political Groups (NPGs) stay divided, Nagas’ aspirations and dreams will never be fulfilled, the release said. “So based on the public decision at the 31st October Rally, the DUCCCF resolved not to collect any tax (house tax, army ration tax, soul tax, ID tax, labour tax, etc.) for the NPGs until and unless the cry of the public: ‘One Government, One Tax’ is fulfilled,” the release stated.
The Federation also strongly felt that the various colony councils have been instituted to serve the interest of the general public, without any fear or favour, and not to act in any way that is detrimental to the wishes of the general public.
“When the public have decided not to pay how can the council chairmen or GBs do the tax collection?” the DUCCCF asked while urging the NPGs not to serve any letter or demand note of taxation to the urban colonies council chairmen/GBs.
