DSU seeks justice for May 19 incident

Diphu, May 22 (EMN):
Condemning the heinous killing of late Sonjoy Ronghang of Doajingphang village by some unidentified miscreants on May 19, Dimasa Students’ Union (DSU) of Karbi Anglong district committee has sought justice and proper enquiry into the matter.

‘We the DSU Karbi Anglong appeal to the right-minded citizens of Karbi Anglong, civil societies, students’ union and women association to highlight the problems and challenges of law and order to the government and request the insurgency outfit–Dimasa National Liberation Army (DNLA) — to come forward and negotiate with Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, state and the central government for amicable solution to the problems’, Dhiraj Diphusa, president DSU Karbi Anglong stated in a press conference on Saturday.

The union conveyed prayers to the departed soul and sought justice and peace for the victim’s family.

 DSU also demanded the government to set up a judicial enquiry committee and police to arrest the culprit at the earliest to maintain peace in the region. Furthermore, DSU and Dimasa community living in the district of Karbi Anglong have requested the new government under the leadership of Assam Chief Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma to initiate peace talk with the stakeholder of DNLA outfit for a peaceful and meaningful dialogue to maintain peace and harmony in the state and particularly in the hill district of Assam, the statement concluded.
