DSOs informs on district-level ‘Catch Them Young’ tournament

DIMAPUR— In pursuance of the Department of Youth Resources and Sports (YRS) annual calendar of activities, the state-level under -14 Taekwondo Tournament under ‘Catch Them Young’ initiatives, will be held on July 20 and the 21^st at IG Stadium, Kohima, for both boys and girls.

In this regard, the district sports officers (DSO) of Peren and Dimapur districts will be conducting coaching and tournaments in the respective districts to prepare for the forthcoming state-level tournament.

For Peren, the DSO informed that before the tournament, a free coaching will be conducted at Taekwondo Hall, Multi Disciplinary Sports Complex, Near AstroTurf Football Ground, New Market, Jalukie town. The last date of entry for coaching is July 3.

For Dimapur, the district-level under-14 taekwondo tournament will be held on July 13 at Multi- Disciplinary Sports Complex, near DC Court, from 9:30 am onwards, DSO Dimapur stated. Players must register on or before July 8 at the office of the District Sports Officer. For any queries or assistance, players may contact 8414099095, 8787773549 or 9711868013.

For both the district and state-level tournaments, a player should be born on or after July 21, 2009. The weight categories both boys are under-27 kg, 27 kg – 32 kg, 32 kg – 37 kg, 37 kg – 42 kg, 42 kg – 47 kg and 47 kg – 52 kg. For girls, the categories are under – 28, 28kg – 33 kg, 33 kg – 38 kg and 38 kg – 43 kg.

Players must produce their original Aadhaar card for age verification along with a Xerox copy of cumulative record book (first page) or CBSE/ICSE registration card/detail duly certified by the school authority and attested by the head of the institution for proof of age at the time of tournament. One player in each category will be selected for the state-level event. Winners of the district-level tournament will also be awarded cash prizes.
