GUWAHATI — Drugs valued at INR 1.7 crore were seized in Assam's Sribhumi district, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
In a joint operation, the police and the BSF found 17,000 Yaba tablets abandoned by peddlers in Gangpar area, he said in a social media post.
"Owner became Mr. India. INR 1.17 cr didn't. Mogambo khush nahi hua. @BSF_India & @SribhumiPolice found 17,000 abandoned Yaba tablets at Gangpar, Sribhumi," Sarma said.
He said investigations were on to trace the culprits.
Yaba, meaning 'crazy medicine' in Thai, is illegal because it contains methamphetamine, a Schedule II substance under the Controlled Substances Act, and caffeine.
