Imphal, August 9 (EMN): Manipur police teams seized narcotics drugs worth Rs. 8 lakh from three individuals during two separate operations on Wednesday. Disclosing this Imphal East district SP Kabib K said two police teams of the district seized 25 grams of heroin no.4 powder and 20,890 Spasmo Proxivon tablets in two separate raids in Nambol, Bishnupur district and Khurai Imphal East district.
The heroin no.4 powder worth Rs. 3 lakh along with two mobile phones were seized from the possession of two individuals name Takhellambam Shashikanta Singh alias Sashi alias Atomba (36) and Ninthoujam Angangtomba Singh alias Tomba (52) both from Nambol Kabowakching.
Rs. 5,22,250 worth Spasmo Proxivon tablets from Sangombshungbam Mujibur Rahaman alias Ango (27) of Khurai Khumidok Kongba Turel Mapan around 12.20pm. Two cases have been registered and investigations are going on to find out details, SP Kabb added.
Earlier on Tuesday, a ‘gold smuggler’ carrying 25 gold bars weighing approximately 4.160 kg worth about Rs. 1.2 crore was apprehended by 12 Assam Rifles troops manning at a permanent vehicle check post at Khudengthabi, Tengnoupal district, Manipur, according to Assam Rifles sources.
“At around 8.15am, a Maruti van was stopped at vehicle check post Khudengthabi for checking. During checking, suspicious package was found with 25 Gold bars.
The driver of the van, revealed that he was transporting gold from Moreh to Imphal,” said Public Relation Officer (PRO) Assam Rifles (South) in a press release.
The apprehended person identified as Raju Muniyandi (45) son of R Muniyandi of Moreh Ward No 1, Tengnoupal District along with recovered item are handed over to Custom Authorities stationed at Moreh, the commercial border town, release added.
In different incident, a combined team of Churachandpur police led by Additional SP(LO) and a team of 25 Assam Rifles conducted raid at Kinkin area of the hill district headquarters and arrested one person Ngamminlen Haokip alias Diamond Haokip(23) of Ward No. 1, Moreh, Tengnoupal district, Manipur.
During the raids the team seized one 9mm pistol, magazine, 3 live rounds, grenade, detonator and one bike on Tuesday night.
