Seized contraband drugs and liquor before the destruction programme in the Excise’s directorate, Dimapur, on February 5.[/caption]
Dimapur, Feb. 5 (EMN): Narcotic Cell and Mobile Squad of Excise department have jointly destroyed contraband drugs and liquor worth INR 27 lakhs on February 5 in the premises of its directorate, Dimapur.
According to a press release issued by the deputy commissioner of excise, Moarenba, destroyed items consisted of 8246 bottles of assorted liquor, 525 kgs of Ganja, 18 grams of brown sugar, 19,707 capsules of Spasmo Proxyvon, 1893 tablets of Nitrosun, 3200 bottles of codeine cough syrup, and 1000 tablets of Methamphetamine. The drugs were seized during the past one year.
The release stated that the department had deposited INR 8,07,500 revenue to the government treasury through fine.
In the destruction programme, commissioner of excise Tarep Imchen has lauded the excise enforcement personnel for their commendable performance despite limited personnel and resources. He further encouraged them to continue working with sincerity and diligence.
The destruction was carried out by the duly constituted destruction board in presence of commissioner of excise, Tarep Imchen, and other officials.
