Mokokchung, April 26 (EMN): The Dimapur District Football Association made an easy passage to semifinals without much sweat, defeating debutant Niuland District Football Association by 3-0.

In a highly anticipated match, Dimapur took hold of the ball possession and Hivi Kiba scored in the 14 minute and Toka added the second goal in the 29th minute to make it 2-0 for the Dimapur team.

The second half saw Kakhevi securing their victory in the 70th minute making it 3-0 for the team.

Dimapur winger Kakhevi’s form has been incredible this tournament tormenting the defensive line. His pace and goal instinct made him one of the best wingers in the tournament. He has scored three goals in four games for Dimapur team.

Niuland didn’t prove themselves worthy in the game as their sloppy defending conceded much to the despair of the team and the striker’s finishing touch was missing in the game.

It is all over for the Niuland team as they are now eliminated from the tournament.

Mon knocks out defending champion Phek

Mon District Football Association came from a goal down to beat defending champions Phek District Football Association 3-1.

During the match, defending champs took the lead through Johnny Ritse from a goalkeeping misjudgment to leapfrog the keeper Eshong Konyak into the net in the 5th minute.

But the goal lead didn’t last as the Mon team fought back and resulted in the equaliser.

Langphong Konyak found the net in the 20th minute to bring the game into their hands.

Laiwang Bohham Konyak their striker then scored a penalty following a handball from Phek defender Resu to lead the score sheet in the 43rd minute to make it 2-1.

Mon played better than Phek with quick precision and accuracy in their strike. The second half saw Phek fighting back for the equaliser but Shamba Samson put the game to bed when he scored in the 63rd minute.

It was all over for the defending team Phek as they were outwitted by Mon’s play and struggle to keep the defensive line on track. This match is the most goals conceded by Phek team and failed to stop the rampant Mon from scoring.

Peren District Football Association defeated Kohima District Football Association by a solitary goal to enter the semifinals of the tournament.

The lone goal was scored by Mezibui in the 50th minute which proved enough for the team in the third quarter final match.

The lone goal was the only difference that separated the two teams in the match.

Peren were unable to penetrate into the match losing the ball in the midfield area. However, it was their playmaker Kaurintah’s corner that found Mezibui to head the ball into the net in the second half.

Peren team will be sweating on Kaurintah’s injury in the semifinal match as they will play against Dimapur team who haven’t conceded any goal yet.

An easy win for Tseminyu as Yhunshalo Kemp scored his second hat-trick of the tournament. The highest scorer of the tournament, Kemp has 10 goals in four matches.

Yhunshalo Kemp scored two goals in the 19th and 38th minute and later completed his hat-trick in 60th minute, while their winger Sinlo Kent scored in the 49th minute.

Debutant Shamator team failed to make much impact in the match registering only two shots on target.

It was a comprehensive win for the debutant team as they edge closer to the finals of the tournament.

With the win, Tseminyu District Football Association will play against Mon District Football Association in the second semifinals match on Wednesday.
