KIPHIRE — While underlining the importance of hard work for self-reliance, member of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (MLA), Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhütso, advised the students to not solely rely on government jobs but seek the required skills to make them employable in the private sector.

Dr. Rhütso stated this on the second day of the 43rd Tikhir Students’ Union conference in Kiphire district on Sunday. He encouraged the educated Tikhir students to return to their villages, contribute to community development and explore avenues to market or export locally produced goods.

He also assured his support to those seeking assistance in Kohima by emphasising an open-door policy for anyone in need.

Recognising the need for community healthcare, Dr. Rhütso and his team also organised a free health camp at Kiusam Primary Health Centre in Kiphire on January 13 on their arrival to attend the conference.

It was informed that the camp was attended by 159 patients including 55 male and 75 female. A total of 28 minor operations were also performed during the health camp. Predominant diagnoses included ear infections, dental issues and low backaches.

MLA Benei L Lamthiu also extended support towards the health camp as it fell within his constituency.

Dr. Rhütso was accompanied by Dr. Keneilhoulie Medom, managing director of KOHIMAS hospital; Dr. Lanu Mollier, dental surgeon; Dr. Moatemjen Ozukum, general surgeon; and two staff nurses and one OT technician from KOHIMAS, along with 13 staff from Kiusam PHC.
