[dropcap]C[/dropcap]ommunist Party of India candidate Dr Moirangthem Nara held a road show on the last day of the election campaign in Imphal today.
Dr Nara backed by 10 parties is contesting for the second time from Inner Manipur parliamentary constituency. Seven others candidates including sitting Congress MP Dr T Meinya Singh,Dr RK Ranjan of Bharatiya Janata Party,S Manaobi of Trinamool Congress, G Tonsana of Manipur Democratic People’s Front, Aam Aadmi Party candidate Dr Th Ibomcha and Independent candidate Indira Oinam are also contesting for the coveted seat to represent 8.5 lakhs electorate of the state.
CPI candidate Nara standing in an open Maruti Gypsy along with his supporters took out the road show from his Singjamei Thongam Leikai residence and passed through Singjamei Bazar, Yaiskul, Keishamthong, Lilashing Khongnangkhong, Lamlong, Ayangpali, Kongba, Konung Mamang, Hapta and converged at Press Club, Majorkhul in Imphal wherein Dr M Nara told the media persons that his election campaign come to an end today.“We have conducted a series of election meeting at more than 300 places (in the state) without violating any (election) code of conduct,” says Dr Nara.
It may be mentioned that the election campaign of the inner Manipur parliamentary constituency comes to an end at 4pm today. The polling for the coveted Inner Manipur PC will be held on April 17 from 7 am to 4 pm.
Another bomb detected near Meinya’s residence:Few days after the detection of an Improvised Explosive Device(IED) near sitting congress MP Dr T Meinya’s Khumbong Bazar residence,another bomb believed to be an IED was recovered from Khumbong Bazaar which is about 1300 metres away from the house of congress candidate of Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency in the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
The incident took place around 11.50am, reports said.
Police source said that the bomb was planted on the road side of Khumbong Bazaar area in a Baba Zarda Container. This is the second time where security forces detected bomb near the residence of Dr Meinya who is seeking reelection from the Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency seat on Indian National Congress ticket.
