DPRO Mon hosts its first-ever carom championship to foster team spirit, camaraderie, and healthy interaction among district staff.

DIMAPUR — The office of the District Public Relations Officer (DPRO), Mon, organised the first ever carom championship 2025 on Friday at its office in Mon town.
A DIPR report stated that the tournament was organised with an objective to build team spirit and promote healthy relationship among the colleagues spread across information centres and APRO offices in the district.
The Information Assistant (IA) of Mon, M Pelih, welcomed the members and expressed gratitude to the DPRO, Mon, for taking the initiatives in organising the tournament. According to her, organising a tournament of such kind was not just about playing a game, but also about bringing people together, building team spirit and promoting healthy interaction among colleagues and friends.

She stated that sports and recreation, in simple forms like carom, play a vital role in professional and personal lives.
“In our daily office duties and public service, we often forget the importance of relaxation and mental refreshment. Carom, though a small indoor game, teaches us valuable lessons of patience, strategy, focus and coordination. It reminds us that success comes not only from strength but also from precision, calmness and teamwork,” Pelih said.
She stated that the tournament was an opportunity to interact beyond work desks, to know each other better and to build lasting friendships. She expressed confidence that the tournament would not only inspire in sports but also in cultural and creative activities that nurture unity and motivation among all officers and staff under the DPRO.
She further encouraged every participant to play in the true spirit of sportsmanship saying, “Winning is wonderful, but what matters most is participation, enjoyment and the spirit of togetherness.
She later declared the tournament opened.
APRO of Naginimora, John Congo Konyak, gave away the prizes.
It stated that Tholong Konyak, IA of Wakching, and Moba Konyak, assistant operator of Mon, won first and runner-up prizes respectively in single category, while in doubles, Tholong and Yokngeng secured first position and Methang and Tansumong secured the second prize.
