DIMAPUR — The Longleng District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) meeting for the month of September was held on Wednesday at the DPDB hall in Longleng, under the chairmanship of DC and vice chairman of Longleng DPDB, Dharm Raj.

The proposal for obtaining an NOC from the board for the establishment of a nursing institute in Longleng was discussed and approved by the board during the meeting, according to a DIPR report.

The DC stated that in light of the central government’s Nasha Mukt Bharat (Drug Free India) programme, which was launched on August 15, 2020, the Phom Baptist Christian Association (PBCA) is envisioning concerted efforts to contain the menace of substance abuse and that it would like to anticipate possible contributions in cash or kind from each department towards the PBCA’s Serenity Home (rehabilitations/detox centre).

PWD (R&B) presented the department activities during the meeting, and the DC directed the School Education department to present the department activities at the next DPDB meeting.

During the meeting, new board members Yanger Jamir, SP Longleng, and H Tokugha Chophy, DFO, were introduced and welcomed.

Peren: The Peren District Planning & Development Board held its monthly meeting on Wednesday at the DC’s conference hall in Peren, chaired by DC Peren Vineet Kumar, who is also the vice chairman of the Peren DPDB.

Following a review of the previous meeting minutes, the house deliberated on the proposal to upgrade the Government Primary School, New Jalukie, to a middle school. After hearing the ADC Jalukie’s report, the house agreed to forward the proposal to the government for necessary action.

Regarding the report submission for Peren town’s 75th anniversary celebration, as highlighted by the ADC Peren, the members decided to submit the report to the government through the DPDB.

The Soil and Water Conservation department and the Labour department both gave PowerPoint presentations on their department’s activities and programmes during the meeting.

In his concluding remarks, the DC requested that the district planning officer direct the officers verifying the society for registration and members of the society to attend the DPDB meeting without fail.

During the meeting, new members of the Peren DBDB were introduced, including SP Peren Manish Bhartiya, EE PWD (R&B) K Hetoi Sema, and senior SDEO Peren, Aheto Chophy.
