DIMAPUR — The monthly District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting for the district of Niuland was held on September 26 at the DC conference hall in Niuland.

The meeting was chaired by DC Niuland and vice chairman of DPDB Niuland, Sara S Jamir.

The deputy commissioner of police (DCP) addressed the house concerning the rising issue of cybercrime, particularly fraudulent bank deposits and withdrawals, and urged the victims to contact the 1930 helpline for necessary actions.

The chief medical officer (CMO) of Niuland emphasised the importance of public awareness about dengue viral infections and highlighted various medical projects undertaken by both the central and state governments within the district.

According to a DIPR report, the district agriculture officer, Niuland, talked about various agricultural schemes and activities in the district.

Several important agenda items were approved during the meeting, including the upgrade of the Kuhuboto Police outpost to a full-fledged police station, the upgrade of the existing GMS Xelhozhe to a high school, and the registration of societies, including the Pulokinimi Welfare Society (Nihoto village), the Pihekhu Ghami Baptist Church, and the Kutupo Farmers Society (Zuheshe village).

Noklak: The Noklak District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) held its monthly meeting on September 20 at the DC conference hall in Noklak.

The meeting was chaired by MLA and chairman of DPDB Noklak, P Longon. Y Yanbemo, SDEO; Sentitemsu Longkumer, assistant director, Food and Civil Supplies; Tsiatsusie, SDO , Thonoknyu; and Yevikhu Awomi, additional SP, Noklak, were among those present at the meeting.

The DPDB unanimously approved the proposal for the establishment of a government primary school at Tukhinkiu village, Thonoknyu sub-division, Noklak district. The board also discussed and approved the need for a polytechnic institution in Noklak.

The board was made aware of the need for sub-centre buildings in various villages, including Nokyan, Ekhao, Kingpao, Nokhu Noking, Pangking, and Kusong. The importance of resolving land ownership issues for these projects was also emphasised by the CMO. The proposal was reviewed and approved by the DPDB.

On the occasion, EAC Noklak, Kathyinla, presented a proposal received from IDAN on the SFURTI scheme for the district. Under this scheme, a fruits and vegetables cluster will be developed, leading to the marketing of products like juice, dried fruits, flavoured jams, jelly, and packaged items.

Recognising the importance of healthcare services in the block, the DPDB discussed the matter of posting a medical officer at Thonoknyu Primary Health Centre. Also, the board decided to recommend the immediate posting of a medical officer to Thonoknyu PHC for the efficient delivery of healthcare services.

The meeting concluded with a commitment to continued development and progress in Noklak district, with all approved proposals being forwarded to the government for further action.
