B Henok Buchem reviews SDG progress, LPG supply and urban schemes at Kohima DPDB meeting.

DIMAPUR — Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, B Henok Buchem, reviewed the progress of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) indicators and public service issues during the monthly meeting of the District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) held at DPDB’s Hall, Kohima on Tuesday.
According to a DIPR report, MLA and chairman of DPDB Kohima, Kevipodi Sophie, chaired the programme.
Addressing the meeting, the DC urged all departments to remain proactive in updating data and information related to SDG indicators, noting that while the state has made encouraging progress, several areas still require improvement.
Buchem also informed members about recent discussions held with oil companies, distributors and dealers regarding issues related to LPG supply and the implementation of digital booking systems.
He said temporary disruptions reported in the past few days were mainly due to server slowdowns caused by increased online traffic, but officials from Indian Oil Corporation have assured that the technical team is addressing the problem.

He noted that most consumers in Kohima already rely on digital LPG booking, putting the district in a relatively advantageous position as the government moves towards 100 percent digital booking nationwide.
He further clarified that educational institutions and hospitals remain exempted from restrictions related to commercial LPG supply and should not face shortages.
Referring to concerns raised by hotels and restaurants, the DC said the district administration would coordinate with the associations to submit their requirements to the authorities for consideration.
Buchem also spoke about the need to prepare for the approaching monsoon season and suggested conducting a pre-monsoon preparedness exercise in coordination with departments.
He urged officials to ensure adequate manpower and resources to address potential issues, particularly along national highways. He also informed that a mass social work will be conducted in the district on April 4.
He further informed the board that reports and submissions related to issues discussed in the previous DPDB meeting, including matters concerning national highways, had already been forwarded to the concerned authorities.
Deputy Director of Urban Development, Kiniholi Kinimi, in a PowerPoint presentation, informed that the Prime Minister Street Vendor’s AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) and Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Urban Livelihoods Mission – are being implemented in Kohima to support urban livelihoods.
Nearly 968 street vendors, mostly women, have availed loans under the scheme. Temporary vending zones have also been created while authorities explore better spaces to manage vendors and reduce traffic congestion in the town.
Kinimi also highlighted the roads in Kohima urban area maintained under the department.
Meanwhile, the district planning officer, Kohima, informed the board that a stakeholder consultation workshop for the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision document will be held in the month of April.
Departments will deliberate in five thematic groups with technical support from the Nagaland Institute of Transformation.
