‘Double entries’ in Wokha E-Roll

CLOSE on the heels of reports that even the dead continue to live in the Electoral Roll in Nagaland, an approximate 5000 suspected double entries were detected in the electoral roll in Wokha district by the software used during the de-duplication process. This was conveyed to Electoral Roll Observer and Commissioner Secretary to the Governor of Nagaland V Shashank Shekhar by DC Wokha Vyasan R at a meeting held in Wokha today.
The double entry cases are being scrutinized by the administrative officers and BLOs for ground level verification after which a final decision will be taken on these suspected double entries, the DC told the poll observer who held the meeting with administrative officers and representatives from political parties. ADC Wokha Sotsula also attended the meeting.
However, electoral roll population ratio of Wokha district is found to be 58 to 65 percent which is in accordance with the average percentage of the State.
The meeting also discussed the issue of illegal immigrants. It was agreed that due care and caution should be taken and no entries illegal immigrants should be listed in the electoral roll. The EPIC coverage in Wokha stands at almost 98 percent.
During the meeting, the leaders of various political parties assured to extend all possible support and cooperation to bring out a clean and accurate electoral roll.
The Electoral Roll Observer appreciated the effort of the district administration for an accurate electoral roll.
