Winners of the Dorians MTB Cyclothon in Dimapur on Saturday.

Dimapur, Oct. 23 (EMN): Reshma Singh (29 years) from Kohima and Raj Prohlad Neog (19 years) from Jorhat, Assam took the top positions in the women’s and men’s category of the MTB Cyclothon 2021 organised by Dorians Society in Dimapur on Oct. 23.

An update informed that Vikhotuonuo (22 years) and Vungthunglo Ovung (21 years) finished second and third respectively in the women’s category, while Kevithozo Casavi (21 years) and MK Thalaiva (35 years) finished second and third, respectively in the men’s category.

The ‘open’ event saw 20 competitors in total. The race was flagged off from the DC office traffic point at 6 am and culminated at the State Stadium, also known as Multi Disciplinary Sports Complex, the construction of which is incomplete.  The competition carried a total cash purse of INR 80,000. The race was one of several events in line with the Society’s 25th founding anniversary in 2022, it stated.

Dorians Society is a non-profit organisation with one of its visions being the promotion of sports, besides social activism. As per the society, “One of our visions is to encourage sports activities in our state.  We are committed to the development and empowerment of future leaders/athletes by using sports as a tool to improve health and fitness, excel in academia, develop life skills and values, and to become well-rounded, productive citizens in society. The most important part we want to provide for our youth is to enjoy sports activities. We organize events which will add value in the lives of the people in general”, it read.
