Ministry of DoNER reports 3704 projects in Northeast, with 93 ongoing in Nagaland across sectors like health and roads.

DIMAPUR — The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), which has been implementing various schemes for development of the North East Region, has taken up 3704 projects as on February 28, 2026.
The schemes include North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (Roads)-NESIDS (Roads), North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme Other Than Road- NESIDS (OTRI), schemes of North Eastern Council (NEC), PM-DevINE scheme and Special Development Packages (SDP).
Out of the 3704 projects, 1037 projects are ongoing, 2567 projects have been completed and 100 projects have been foreclosed till date.

According to the ministry’s latest update, the projects pertain to different developmental sectors such as education, health, road, power, and tourism, among others. Assam has the highest number of ongoing projects at 261, followed by Manipur with 123 projects, Arunachal Pradesh with 114 projects, and Nagaland with 93 projects. Tripura has 86 projects, while Meghalaya has 82, Mizoram has 68, and Sikkim has 37 projects.
Amongst the schemes, the scheme of NEC has the maximum number of ongoing projects, with 523 as on date in the Northeast region.
A total of 93 ongoing projects in Nagaland are at different stages of physical progress. Scheme-wise distribution of ongoing projects showed that the NEC scheme has the maximum number of schemes at 56%.
The district wise distribution of projects in the state revealed that Kohima has the highest number of ongoing projects with 31 projects—21 under the NEC scheme, 2 under PM-DevINE, 1 under the NESIDS-ROADS and 7 under the NESIDS-OTRI scheme.
Longleng, Kiphire, Mokokchung and Wokha have the least number of ongoing projects, with Kiphire and Wokha having one project each, Longleng having two projects, and Mokokchung having three projects as on February 2026.
In the physical progress-wise of ongoing projects distributed across schemes, a total of 20 projects worth INR 234.24 crore have achieved 100% physical progress, while 10 projects were yet to achieve any physical progress.
Further, 29 projects have made 75% progress, 13 have made 50% progress, while 21 projects have made below 50% progress.
