DoNER secretary R Vijay Kumar inspects Manipur Organic Farming Centre

DoNER secretary R Vijay Kumar was in Imphal since January 5 to explore the potential of the region after the central government under the initiative of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced Rs 100 crore organic farming programme in the North Eastern states. Prior to his departure for the national capital, he also visited Regional Centre of Organic Farming at Lamphelpat this morning. During the visit, he was briefed by the laboratory assistant Jayanta Karmakar and Chandrasekhar led team of the centre about their services in the region.After listening the brief, DoNER secretary also had a brief interaction with the NGOs working in the organic farming activities in the state wherein functionaries of Green Foundation,All Manipur Trained Medicinal and Aromatic Plant Promoters’ Consortium and Green Bioptech highlighted their organic farming movement They also sought support from central authority such as DoNER ministry in promoting organic farming in the state of Manipur.
Earlier the in the day DoNER officials accompanied by the state planning department officials visited sports complexes in Imphal, ICAR Lamphelpat unit,Kangla fort. The DoNER team will be leaving for national capital after visiting Loktak lake in Bishnupur district. It may be mentioned that on his arrival here on DoNER secretary had already called on the Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh at the latter’s secretariat on January 5 morning.
On Wednesday,the team inspected the DoNER funded projects at KVK Hengbung and New Maram in Senapati district. DoNER was established to ensure development with equity for the North Eastern r gion to unleash the potential of its human and natural resources.
