Dog show at Urban Haat attracts hundreds

[dropcap]N[/dropcap]agaland – a state of dog lovers is gradually showing keen interest and giving importance to domesticating ‘Man’s best friend.’
The Furry Friends, a pet store has organized the first ever Dog Show at Urban Haat today under the sponsorship of Pedigree.
The dog show witnessed various categories like Best of Breed, Fancy Dress Competition, Cutest Dog, Ugliest Dog, Best Hairstyle and Obedience wherein the winners were awarded with certificates, cash and gift hampers from Padigree.
Around 37 dogs of varied breeds like Chihuahua, Labroder, Golden Retriever, Pug, etc. dressed in their best colourful fancy outfits drew much attention of the crowd and made the show look like that of western craze. Superheroes costumes, gift box, angels, hip-hop, stylish dresses to name a few were the dresses worn by the smart trained dogs.Chihuahua Yui who was a darling to all the onlookers of the show won the title cutest dog while 7 months old Golden Retriever dressed in hip-hop with chains and shades around him mesmerized the crowd with his hip-hop nature that made him win the best fancy dress.
Best of breed was awarded to Golden Retriever (Scotch) who was also given the title of most obedient dog owned by Col. Kanwar Vikram Singh. While the best hairstyle was awarded to Lhasa Apsa, owned by Alotoli Elizabeth.
The Ugliest dog winner was Daisy (mix breed).
The judges for the show were Yangti, a dog drainer and Suvanker from Guwahati.
The prize was given away by Col. Kanwar Vikram Singh, Ex-MLA Atovi Sumi and Dr. Wati.
Such competitions are hoped to be a regular feature with the involvement of various groups.
