Dimapur, Nov. 4 (EMN): Deputy Commissioner of Noklak, Reny Wilfred on Wednesday stated that dobashis are the custodian of customary law and are ‘holding the values of the customs.’ The DC was speaking at the Tuensang district DBs union bifurcation programme at DC’s conference Hall in Noklak on November 4.

“DBs are the eyes and ears of the administration and also the strength in maintaining law and order in the district and state as well,” a DIPR report stated.

“He called upon the DBs of Tuensang and Noklak to work together as before and requested them to form a forum, so that it will create an opportunity for co-ordination. Issues and problems are part of the administration and where DBs (also a magistrate) play a vital role in solving the disputes basing on the customary laws. He urged upon the DBs to be firm in giving opinion, which is based on customary law,” it read.

The DC asked the DBs not to develop the habit of consuming alcohols and other intoxicating items and advised them to stay upright as custodian of customary law.
