DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 8

Parliamentary Secretary, Labour & Employment and Chairman of Mokokchung DPDB, Dr. Longri has called upon the DPDB members to be sincere in shouldering their responsibilities as head of the district and further urged them to do one’s bit towards development of the district. Addressing the DPDB meeting at the ADC Planning conference hall on October 8, the chairman sought their full cooperation to ensure that the developmental activities in the district always move forwards.
Drawing attention on regular attendance in the meeting by all the members, Dr Longri requested the members to re-look at some important decisions of the DPDB taken in 2013 such as expansion of Mokokchung town and total ban on hunting wild animals in the district to get positive result out of it.
Stressing the need to strengthen the efforts to preserve wild animals, he said some villagers are successfully implementing imposition of ban on hunting but some villagers are not adhering to.
On reported order of shooting of dogs in the town, the DPDB chairman opined that killing of dogs whenever seen on the street is not the solution saying that there are some ways to control this problem.
In the meeting, DC and vice chairman DPDB, Sushil Kumar Patel made a power point presentation on Identification and Verification of work-charged/casual employees. He said government will be very strict to weed out bogus employees through this exercise as random appointments of W/C and casual employees severely hit on the state exchequer.
He said the step taken by the government is to have them on need base. Patel also informed the members that the entire exercise of identification and verification has to be completed by November 2014 and therefore asked all heads of department to get it done within the time frame.
Minister for Agriculture Dr. Benjongliba supplemented the DC’s power point presentation by saying government is serious to streamline the W/C and casual employees and called upon the members to take positive action.
Construction of long cherished DC office complex and construction of Ring road in Mokokchung town also came up for discussions. The meeting also approved the LADP schemes for 2014-15.
Besides construction of Tourist Resort/Lodge at Ungma Nature Park, registration of Social society Salangtem ward and Opangpu Self Help Group Salangtem Ward, Mokokchung were also approved.
Minister for National Highways, Soil and Water Conservation, Nuklutoshi and chairman, NBDA and Pollution Control, Amen Yaden who attended the meeting actively took part in the discussions.
