KV Pusa today asked "Naga groups" not to make mockery of Naga nationalism. AICC member and Chairman of Political Affairs Committee (PAC) of Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), K V Pusa said Naga nationalism does not belong to any group or faction but for all Naga people. He regretted that some people in the name of Naga nationalism have been making mockery of Naga political issue thereby has become a laughing-stock in the eyes of the world community.
He said it is the collective effort to resolve the protracted Naga political issue and not by handful of people who have claimed themselves as peopleâs representatives.
Pusa said as a responsible leader he had met many Indian policy makers, including the Prime Minister several times and requested them for a solution which would be honourable and acceptable to all sections of Naga people. He said Naga people cannot drag on with the issue and form more groups and factions and become a saddle for the people.
He said congress would continue to ask the Centre for an early solution of the long drawn Naga political problem.
On his integrity, the PAC chairman said as long as the issue is not resolved he will remain as a Naga Indian. He was reacting to a statement issued by recently formed National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Reformation) questioning his integrity and nationality. Pusa said if some people wanted to question his integrity and nationality he asked with what passport they had traveled abroad, including Bangkok and Chiang Mai in Thailand in the last couple of years.
Pusa said his statement questioning the NSCN (Reformation) on seeking a truce with the Government of India neither has scheme nor to hurt anybody's sentiment. He said NSCN (Reformation) was formed just recently and seeking a ceasefire from the Centre does not hold any logic. My intention was not to hurt the sentiment of anybody but to let people know the logic behind seeking ceasefire from the Government of India and to save the face of Naga nationalism, he added
The PAC chairman said it is not a question of 30, 40 years of some people spearheading Naga nationalism but added he was also the victim of brutality of security forces since 1950s. âI had to live in the jungles. I have seen the brutality, he said.
Pusa said people who have questioned his integrity and nationality might not have been the victims of brutalities and violence. âI have seen the turmoil in our society, he added. He said sitting in a comfort zone and making high rhetoric about Naga nationalism would not suffice Naga political movement.
Congress leader said unity is a must for an early solution but regretted that Naga society has been further divided.
The NSCN (Reformation) has asked Pusa not to comment anything on Naga political issue terming him as an Indian. But he said Naga people cannot be taken for a ride in the name of Naga nationalism adding that people had enough and wanted to live peacefully and progress.
