Dimapur, Nov. 19 (EMN): Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) submitted its school touring report to the School Education department and requested to set up a committee to look into the issues on or before January 18, 2020.
DNSU submitted its report to the School Education department on November 18 through the principal director and also discussed on issues regarding the report, an update from Tenyebinlo Himb, DNSU education and statistics secretary stated on Tuesday.
The touring focused mostly on government schools as they required more attention than private schools. The union listed grievances such as proxy teaching, shortage of subject teachers, renovation and extension of classrooms, proper implementation of Mid-Day Meal scheme, requirement of Grade IV and ministerial staff, to provide potable water, to provide fans and lights, inadequate supply of uniforms and textbooks, need for upgrade of schools, flood prone schools and other issues.
DNSU requested the department to prioritise on full and quality implementation of components under Samagra Shiksha erstwhile SSA/RMSA, proper implementation of RTE Act 2009, clear demarcation of school area by erecting boundary wall to avoid land encroachment, introduction of biometric attendance, rationalisation of teachers and others.
Further, the union put forward its demand to set up a committee on or before January 18, 2020 for necessary action at the earliest.
Meanwhile, Tenyebinlo Himb has credited the success of the school tour to his colleagues for their tireless help who have worked for about six months against all odds.
