Dimapur, May 19 (EMN):
Dimapur Naga Student’s Union (DNSU) officials destroyed seized Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth INR 20 lakh at DMC dumping site, Burma Camp, on May 19.

The destruction was carried in the presence of representatives from Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC), Naga Council Dimapur (NCD), Naga Women Hoho, Dimapur and Urban Council Chairman Federation (DUCCF).

According to DNSU president Sedevilie Angami, the consignment were seized from two Bolero pick-up truck at Burma Camp check gate. A total of 9488 bottles of IMFL from 435 cases were destroyed, he informed.

While expressing sceptical on the performance of security personnel on duty at inter-state check gates, Angami questioned the concerned authority as to how could vehicles laden with liquor enter the state particularly during this time of lockdown.

He added that DNSU has taken the responsibility to curb liquor not for publicity but to bring about awareness to the public. He stated DNSU is doing it for the common good of the public.
