Dimapur, Aug. 4 (EMN): The Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) has issued a statement asking hostel establishments and paying guest houses to adhere to the set of regulations for fees, including those for tuitions and the number of students to be accommodated for each tuition session.
The DNSU issued a press release to the media on Sunday iterating the fees and associated regulations the union had stipulated earlier.
The DNSU ‘reaffirmed its stand taken on the 31st of May, 2019 along with its constituent units after detailed consultation with teachers, students and parents, that the teachers should accommodate maximum seven students per batch for five days in a week for tuition.’
For home tuitions, the minimum number of days for tuition is set at three days with maximum three students per batch.
Further, the union referenced complaints from parents and students regarding poor conditions of hostels and paying guest establishments in Dimapur. The union said some hostels and paying guest houses were ‘running without proper facilities and infrastructure.’
The union cautioned proprietors to “run separate hostels and wardens for boys and girls and made it mandatory for the hostels to keep a warden.”
The students’ body also appealed to the proprietors to consider mess fees for holiday periods while maintaining that ‘90% were running without proper registration and failing to comply with the set rules by the concerned department.’
PGs told to register
“The DNSU has informed the proprietors of Dimapur based hostels and PG’s to get registered from the government and then obtain No Objection Certificate from the DNSU office on or before 21st August, after which the DNSU officials will conduct surprise checking...”
The organisation cautioned that if the hostels and paying guest houses fail to comply with the department's set rules, the matter will be handed over to police or the authority in concern for immediate action.
Any individual can drop in suggestions at the DNSU’s office suggestion box which is available 24 hours. They may visit the union’s office, which is located near the Dimapur fire station during working hours from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm to seek redress for any grievance.
