DMC urges kindness towards animals

Dimapur, March 13 (EMN): Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has sought humane treatment to all animals whether domestic or wild during transportation, rearing or even during slaughter for meat purpose under Prevention of Cruelty to Animal Act, 1960 under Section 11 (1).

It has, therefore, prohibited beating, kicking, overloading, torturing, causing unnecessary pain or suffering to any animal, conveying or carrying either in or upon any vehicle in such a manner as to subject it to unnecessary pain or suffering.

DMC administrator, Albert Ezung, stated that the civic body in coordination with the State Animal Welfare Advisory Board Nagaland (SAWB-N) and Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) would keep a strict vigil on any person dealing in any inhumane manner to animals. It further warned that violators would be prosecuted as per the provision of the Act.
