Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has issued fresh orders on Wednesday to stem and regulate garbage disposal in the commercial town of Dimapur. The municipal council took strong note that business establishments and “offices” in the town continue to flout regulations and littering their areas when closing shop.
“In spite of several notices / directives, it has been observed that the shopkeepers/ business establishments/ offices within DMC jurisdiction are in the habit of throwing garbage/ wastes of their respective shop/ office on the road side while closing their establishment which is against the norm especially from the sanitation service point of view,” chief of the DMC, K Tarep Imchen, stated in a press release on September 10.The establishments in concern are ordered to stop the “odd practice” and immediately start adhering to the regulations or they would invite strong action.
The municipal council has ordered them to dispose garbage in designated garbage bins and collection points in the evening only after 6 PM, and in the morning, before 6 AM. Once garbage has been cleared by the DMC cleaners, no one is allowed to throw garbage in the cleared garbage collection points until the stipulated time, the DMC ordered.
Also, the council has requested every citizen and resident of the town not to dispose tree or tree trunks “with leaves” at the collection points.
“Anyone found violating this order shall be penalized as per the provisions of law which may lead to imposition of fine,” the DMC stated.
DMC lists fees for cesspool cleaner use
The Dimapur Municipal Council has put into service a new cesspool cleaner machine of 5000 liters. The municipal informed on Wednesday that the service would be on first-come-first basis.
CEO of the council K Tarep Imchen issued a press release on Wednesday informing of the new facility.
The council has informed that the fees for service within the municipal jurisdiction will be Rs. 2, 500 for the first load while every subsequent load would entail a charge of Rs. 2, 000. The rate for service outside the municipal jurisdiction is Rs. 3, 000 for the first load while every subsequent load will be Rs. 2, 500.
However the rates for those outside the DMC jurisdiction may differ or may increase but will be determined on the basis of the distance covered, the council informed.
