DIMAPUR — Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) on Tuesday felicitated the newly elected councilors and held a meeting at Don Bosco Institute for Development and Leadership (DBIDL) hall.

She, therefore, she urged the members to share their vision and maintain a unified focus to enable them grow together as a team.

Ezung also acknowledged the administrators, members and staff for pulling through numerous challenges despite having limited resources. With the team comprising young innovative minds along with experienced individuals, she stated that they are eager to begin working for the betterment of Dimapur city.

Meanwhile, the administrator of DMC, W Manpai Phom, pointed out that the government decisions to close down toll gates have drastically altered the functioning of the DMC.

Mentioning that municipalities across the state have faced similar issues, he however, stated that the challenges have been particularly overwhelming and difficult for DMC.

Phom mentioned that DMC has initiated pilot projects that have seen some success and stressed that at this juncture, inputs from the 23 councilors in addressing those challenges would be crucial. He added that any measures to be implemented should be done at the grassroots to ensure successful execution.

He further highlighted about the DMC staff pending salaries that has not been resolved by the government and appealed to the government to provide assistance so that they could continue to provide services to the people.
