Dimapur, April 21 (EMN): The Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC), in coordination with the State Animal Welfare Advisory Board Nagaland (SAWAB-N) and Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), cautioned that any person dealing in any inhuman manner to animals would be prosecuted as per the provision of the Act.
DMC administrator has notified all the concerned that the Prevention of Cruelty to Animal Act 1960 under Section 11(1) protects all the animals whether domestic or wild, which requires them to be treated in a humane way during transportation, rearing or even during slaughter for meat purpose. He, therefore, stated that beating, kicking, torturing, causing unnecessary pain or suffering to any animal, conveying or carrying either in or upon any vehicle in such a manner as to subject it to unnecessary pain or suffering is strictly prohibited.
