DMC announces winners of cleanest colonies for first three quarters

Dimapur, Oct. 8 (EMN): Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) under ‘A Better Dimapur’ initiative has announced the winners of the ‘cleanest colony ‘competition 2021 in a meeting held on October 4.  An update informed that the house discussed and selected winners according to first, second and third quarter.

For the first quarter (January, February and March), Duncan colony and Sifty Colony won the title in the big and small colony categories respectively.

In the second quarter, (April, May and June) Nuton Basti colony and Aokong Colony won in the big and small categories respectively.

Meanwhile, in the third quarter (July, August and September), Lengrijan Colony and Niu Colony won cleanest colonies in the big and small colonies respectively.

It stated that all judges for the competition Further, the judges advised all the colonies under DMC to keep their colonies clean and encouraged all the sanitation committees from every colony to mobilise residents and take active part in the competition and initiate cleanliness drive from time to time.

The team also appealed the public to maintain civic sense and have a community mindset, not for money or prize but for a better Dimapur, it read.

This year the judging was based on ten criteria namely, garbage management, drainage management, burning of waste, community toilet, community participation, sanitation committee activities, jungle/foliage clearance, tobacco free zone, construction and demolition waste not littered/ obstructing traffic or general public and clearance of RST(Residential sanitation Tax) upto date.

It said that under DMC, out of 23 wards, there were 73 small colonies and 22 large colonies.

It informed that there will be no elimination round and all colonies will be given points every month. The prizes for winning colony are INR 1,00,000 (winner), INR  30,000 and INR  20,000 for first and second runners up respectively for both small and big colony categories. Prizes of INR 10,000 respectively will also given on quarterly basis both for small and big colonies.
