Kohima, Jan. 26 (EMN): Eleven District Legal Services Authority (DLSAs) across Nagaland had rendered legal services on Republic Day by setting up stalls, distributing legal literatures in English and local dialects, legal counselling and visited district jails on January 26.
The literatures in English and local dialects of the respective districts were explained and distributed by the district chairman, secretary, panel lawyers and para-legal volunteers to the VIPs and various sections of people.
The literatures were on various rights and provisions such as food security act 2012, protection of women from domestic violence, cyber crime, lokadalat, legal aid and legal services etc.
During the visit to district jail, the Phek DLSA members had an interaction with the UTPs and the convicts. The members also apprised them of their legal rights and legal assistance available for the poor. Legal leaflets translated in Tenyidie were also distributed. It was noted that altogether there were 13 jail inmates under which 9 UTPs and 4 convicts in the district jail.
