DLSAs organise awareness programmes in Mon, Longleng districts

DIMAPUR — Mon District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) organised a legal awareness programme in Mon town on Tuesday in collaboration with the Medical department, Mon, in conjunction with the continuing medical education (CME) of doctors.

The event was presided over by Dr. Rongsennungla, the district programme officer for non-communicable diseases (NCD), according to a press release.

During the programme, B Peter Resu, secretary of DLSA Mon and JMFC, facilitated a discussion on medico-legal procedures and improving healthcare for convicts and under-trial prisoners in the district jail, while the chief medical officer (CMO), Dr. Vezokholu Theyo, led a discussion on medical ethics and the Nagaland Medical Council Act, 2014.

The programme was attended by 13 doctors and retainer lawyer Topha Konyak from DLSA Mon.

In a separate event, Longleng DLSA organised an awareness campaign on Monday with dobashis and GBs on priority schemes, including those under the Social Welfare department, Health and Family Welfare, the Right to Education Act, and the National Food Security Act, at customary court (GBs).

A Mane Phom, retainer lawyer, spoke on the occasion about the Victim Compensation Act of 2012 and Lok Adalat.

The Village Council Act and the Rules for the Administration of Justice were explained by Kumdilong Kessen, Secretary, and CJM Longleng, while panel lawyer P Monyei Phom highlighted the Social Welfare department schemes.

In total, 18 people took part in the awareness programme.
